"Our commitment to transform health care for patients locally and nationally reflects, once again, in our ranking among the top 50 in the U.S. News & World Report annual report," said Patty Maysent, CEO, UC San Diego Health.

"Being named among the best in eight specialties is evidence of extraordinary clinical care provided for an array of conditions by some of the world's best clinicians, surgeons and supporting teams," she said.

Scripps La Jolla Hospital and Clinics, a combined designation for Scripps Memorial and Scripps Green hospitals, was ranked second in the area and seventh in California.

Scripps Memorial and Green were nationally ranked in gynecology, No. 21; diabetes and endocrinology, No. 24; cardiology and heart surgery, No. 28; pulmonology, No. 32; orthopedics, No. 34; gastroenterology and GI surgery, No. 45; and geriatrics, No. 48.

"These rankings are a testament to the deep dedication and exceptional skill of our physicians, nurses and others who are on the front lines of caring for our patients every day."
