An Escondido mom is warning others about a frightening attempted break-in at her home late Wednesday night.

Kisha Gonzalez was sound asleep around 10 pm when she first heard something.

"I didn't think anything of it because I was in a deep sleep and I heard the dog barking," said Gonzalez.

She didn't realize it at the time, but the noise was an intruder taking the screen off her bedroom window. What jarred her out of bed was the frantic bark coming from one of her 2 little dogs.

When she went out to the living room, she realized someone had jumped her fence and was on her back patio.

"I could hear the dog door rattling. I thought maybe it was a cat or something cause I could hear it flapping like that and so when I looked, I could see a shadow cause everything was closed up so I just saw a shadow, " said Gonzalez.

Fortunately, the door was secure.

"I don't know if they were first trying to get through the dog door and not realizing the sliding glass door was closed and then after they realized that then they started to move it," said Gonzalez.

That's when she screamed.

"Instinct was what are you doing?! Get out of here! I heard him running and then I saw him jumping to the truck," said Gonzalez.

She believes her home may have been an attractive spot because there are 2 guest parking spots right next to her house.

"That's the only thing I can think of why we were targeted. We have the 2 guest parking right there and they did have the truck backed in," said Gonzalez.

She said the truck, which was an older model and beige in color, took off with its lights off.
