SERRA MESA (KGTV)--A man selling flowers on Mother’s Day was robbed, dragged and run over by two men in a car pretending to be customers.

It happened on Murray Ridge Rd just before 3 p.m. Sunday.

D.J. Musick, 48, was at the same corner he sells flowers at several days a week, when two men pulled up in a car.

“They had $20 and they got two $5 bouquets and when I went to give them the change they grabbed my hand and pulled me into the car with the money in it,” Musick told 10News outside of Sharp hospital when he was released.

One of his arms was wrapped in a bandage from hand to shoulder from road rash, the bandage turning red in some parts from all the bleeding. His other arm was in a sling from a pulled shoulder and he was walking with a bad limp.

“I’m hurting right now and a little depressed,” Musick said. “Both of my kneecaps. They even ripped a hole in my sneaker dragging me.”

Musick and neighbors believe there may be video of the incident from the camera on an Metropolitan Transit System bus, which was right behind them at a bus stop.

The men stole about $70 and the two $5 bouquets of flowers from Musick.

“[I’m] just trying to make a living,” Musick said.

Musick is just getting back on his feet.

“I was homeless. Staying with a friend of mine now. He took me in,” Musick said. “Just trying to come up and I keep getting knocked back down.”

But Musick said he won’t stay down. He plans to be back selling flowers soon.

“Yeah, why not. I’m not giving up,” Musick said.
