SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Coronado-based Navy SEAL is under a military investigation after allegations surfaced that he has been working as a part-time adult film actor.

As first reported by The San Diego Union-Tribune, a probe has been launched into the alleged outside work of Chief Special Warfare Officer Joseph John Schmidt III, 10News confirmed with Naval Special Warfare Commander Lt. Mark Walton.

Schmidt, who is eight months from retirement, could potentially lose benefits and have his ranking impacted if it is found that he violated military and SEAL rules.

Schmidt has allegedly appeared in at least 32 porn films in the past seven years under the name Jay Voom. Additionally, his wife is a porn actress who goes by the name Jewels Jade.

An internet video search for Jay Voom revealed a clip of a man resembling Schmidt along with two other women.

10News tried to contact Schmidt for comment at his residence but calls went unanswered.

A former Navy SEAL who spoke to 10News' Allison Ash, said that Schmidt's porn star wife was at  SEAL party signing autographs. It's unclear where and when the party took place.

The source told 10News that the SEALs are on call "24/7" and that there no moonlighting allowed.

"Be careful what you do," he said in reference to Schmidt's alleged moonlighting and how this reflects on the military and the unit.
