CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A park in Chula Vista is going high-tech to help children get their exercise.

The city has installed a new jungle gym at Holiday Estates Park (383 Connoley Circle), and the structure features interactive technology for parents and kids.

Several icons on the jungle gym are linked to software, and parents can download an app that allows kids to scan the icons as part of a game.

City leaders said the "smart park" is all part of a bigger idea.

"Chula Vista is on a journey to become a 'smart' city and use new technologies to our benefit as a society. This is a new example so the kids can get on there and enjoy technology and get exercise, too," said a city official.

A federal grant paid for the new additions to the park.
