SAN DIEGO - A military veteran who owns a local business claimed victory over San Diego City Hall Friday.

Bob Mulz, who owns Video Electronics in City Heights, said the city was making him pay for his business license even though local and state law says military veterans like him don't have to pay.

Mulz presented his case to the city over the last few weeks and won. He received a letter from the City Treasurer's Office that said the fees were waived.

"Veterans earn the right to get a break," he said.

Mulz, who served in the U.S. Navy, told 10News he's not done fighting, adding, "I felt that we had a won the battle, but we had no yet won the war."

Mulz said he knows many veterans who still pay for their business licenses. He said he'll present his case on the state level to have the law clarified and to raise awareness so other veterans can take advantage of the benefit.
