A San Diego woman is trying to finish planning her wedding without her engagement ring.

Erika designed every detail on her engagement ring.

"I designed it because my dad designed his own wedding ring," she said.

She left it at home last Saturday while she went hiking with her fiancé. In just two hours, someone ripped the screen off their window, jimmied the lock, and stole her ring, other jewelry, and electronics.

"I knew before I hit the corner that my ring was taken. I just knew it," she said. "How does nobody see that? Like, a whole body crawling, jimmying the window and then crawling through it at 10 a.m. on a Saturday morning. It's just crazy."

The timing of this theft makes another loss even harder.

"Yeah, I lost my dad the day after it happened," Erika said through tears. "I don't want to draw attention to myself and I don't want this to be a pity party, but if someone sees the ring, I would love for it to be returned. It's important to me."

The custom ring is worth about $5,000.
