San Diego Zoo's 'Africa Rocks' brings lemurs, 'honey badger'

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The next phase of the San Diego Zoo's "Africa Rocks" exhibit will open to the public Saturday.

The "Madagascar" section features several new animals. Immediately on display will be five ring-tailed lemurs, a family of fossa, and retel.

Lemurs are a popular primate known for their long tails. Fossa from the weasel family and the one in the new habitat has two young pups to play with. Retel are better known as "honey badgers."

Construction crews are still finishing some portions of Madagascar, which will house four more species of lemur. Additional phases of Africa Rocks will open in the coming months.
