SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- "We call him The Weapon."
It's unusual for a sophomore kicker to get a nickname, but that's how Kearny High School head coach Will Gray describes Musashi Nozaki.
The Komets are getting the 10News Pro Treatment this week, and Nozaki stands out for his kicks that sail more than 50 yards through the air -- and the fact he can kick field goals with his right foot...and with his left.
"It comes from soccer," Nozaki says. "You use both feet."
Nozaki only recently moved to San Diego from Japan. He tried out for the soccer team but his powerful leg caught Coach Gray's eye.
"We were joking around one day, and he kicked the ball, and I was like, 'whoa.'"
Nozaki and the Komets (6-0) host fellow unbeaten San Diego High School (6-0) on Friday night.
