SAN DIEGO -- A woman is in custody in connection with a series of fires that broke out early Thursday morning in the Midway District.
According to San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson, a total of five debris and garbage fires were discovered around 3:15 a.m. in the area surrounding 3400 Kenyon Street. According to Swanson, construction workers noticed a woman throwing pine needles on one of the fires. The workers extinguished the flames and called police.
San Diego police officers arrived and arrested a suspect. Her name and the charges she faces were not immediately confirmed.
A San Diego Fire-Rescue Metro Arson Strike Team was on scene investigating.
This comes after a series of fires were set Monday morning in North Park and Hillcrest, torching dumpsters, trash cans and a shed. A fire was also set in a Normal Heights alleyTuesday.
Authorities did not immediately disclose if they believe the incidents were connected.
