SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Newly released footage of a donut shop crash in South San Diego shows a nearby employee spring into action.

Video captured of the crash at Yum-Yum Donuts at 1820 Coronado Blvd. Sunday afternoon, when a driver pulled into a parking lot but hit the gas instead of the brake pedal.

The driver lunged forward, slamming into the strip mall, before backing up and hitting the gas again, striking the building a second time.

Ihab Refai, who co-manages the nearby Hot Tasty Pizza with his brother, Sami, quickly ran outside with his brother pull the driver from the vehicle.

After the footage stopped, Ihab also stopped the vehicle by pulled the handbrake.

"My brother [ran] to help the lady," Sami recalled. "He tried to open the door. It doesn't work and he put his hand in and open[ed] the door ... He think[s] like anybody else, help people, she's an old lady."

The driver, who has not been identified yet, was reportedly confused after the accident. She received minor injuries and did not have to be taken to a hospital.

San Diego Police are still investigating the crash.
