SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Clairemont man who says two women with a baby scammed him at Target has a warning for other shoppers.

Bob, who asked 10News not to reveal his identity, was shopping at the store on Balboa Ave. Friday night when two women with a stroller approached him and asked him to help pay for their baby formula. The women claimed the baby was sick and needed medicine.

Bob agreed to help. When he reached the checkout with his own items and the women's two bottles of medicine, the women asked him to pay on a separate check.

When one of the medicines alerted a need for identification, an employee came over with a warning for Bob.

"She seemed to recognize the women.  She got angry and said it's a scam they're pulling," said Bob.

The clerk told Bob that recently, another shopper had bought the women more than $80 in baby items, only to have the women come back with a receipt and return the items for cash.

Bob said the women left as the clerk was telling him the story.

"I felt like a moron falling for it, but they are underhanded, playing on my sympathy. They knew what the were doing," said Bob.

10news reached out to Target for a comment, but have yet to hear back.
