RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - A shooting death in Ramona Sunday night prompted a manhunt that involved a sheriff’s department SWAT unit.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call regarding possible gunfire in the 15900 block of Wood Rock Lane, just south of state Route 67.
According to sheriff’s officials, the 911 caller said multiple gunshots were heard and someone was yelling following the shots.
Responding deputies found an unidentified man with “a traumatic injury” out outside of a home on Wood Rock Lane. Despite life-saving efforts, the man was declared dead at the scene.
Deputies and SWAT members surrounded the immediate area, including near Ramona United Methodist Church, as they searched for a possible shooter, but no one has been found as of 5:15 a.m. Monday.
