Police say 23-year-old Alex Guaderrama, the son of SDPD Capt. Manny Guaderrama, went on a violent drunken rampage early Tuesday morning in Pacific Beach. They say he attacked three women who were in line at Ramone's taco shop on Garnet Avenue and Everts Street.

"The allegations are he grabbed the breasts of one female, the buttocks of another and punched the third in the face," said San Diego police Lt. Andra Brown.

Employees at Ramone's told 10News the brawl went onto the street. When the women – who were all in their 20s – got into their friend's car to leave, Guaderrama punched out the car's back window, police said.

He ran from the scene but later returned. Police said he was not taken into custody because his hand needed stitches.

"The fact is, he was also very injured," said Brown. "If he hadn't been injured, he would have been in handcuffs and taken away but he was injured to the point where he needed stitches. Anybody else in that situation would have gotten the same treatment. We can't take him to jail. The jail won't accept them if they're all bloody and cut up."

Brown said everything was by the book and that the case remains under investigation. A notify warrant has been issued. The city attorney will now decide if Guaderrama will be charged.

"The fact that this adult is the son of a member of our police department has no bearing on how we investigate the crime… the young man's going to be held accountable regardless of who is father is," said Brown.

10News attempted to contact Capt. Guaderrama for comment but were told he was out of town and unavailable.
