SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Parents in Normal Heights say they can no longer enjoy a day at the park with their children because homeless are taking over.

One mom was even too afraid to show her face on camera, but she told 10News she's found needles and human feces on the playground equipment.

She also worries about the homeless being so close to her children while they play.

10News reached out to SDPD to find out what can be done. A spokesman told us they've only had a handful of calls at the park since January, meaning it's likely parents aren't reporting the problem.

The officer told 10News parents can report issues a number of ways like using the non-emergency line, the Get It Done App or calling the Neighborhood Policing Division, which focuses on homelessness and neighborhood issues.
