Pacific Beach neighbors say wayward golf balls pose a hazard

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Wayward balls from the Mission Bay Golf Course pose a danger to the community, neighbors tell 10News.

Becky Horvath, manager of the Bay Inn Apartments on Grand Avenue, says she finds golf balls on the complex property all the time. She took action when a golf ball went through an apartment window.

"I went across to talk to the golf course about it and they gave me a claim for the City of San Diego. And they said, 'Oh, yeah, it happens all the time. Cars get hit. And here's a claim form. Just fill it out they'll reimburse you,'" Horvath said.

According to a list of golf ball damages provided to 10News by the city, San Diego paid more than $65,000 in claims related to all city courses over the past five years. No numbers are available for the Mission Bay course alone.

Almost all claims involved vehicles, however one claim was for an individual hit in the face.
