Navy Corpsman identified as victim of fatal Oceanside shooting

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Police arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of a Camp Pendleton Navy Corpsman on Friday.

Oceanside Police arrested Eduardo Arriola just after midnight Saturday for the murder of Devon Rideout, a 24-year-old US Navy Corpsman based at Camp Pendleton.

Arriola was taken in for questioning soon after the shooting at the Dylan condo complex at 550 Los Arbolitos Blvd. around 8 p.m.

Rideout died from gunshot wounds at the scene after paramedics tried to provide first aid.

Arriola now facing one charge of first-degree murder and being held without bail. He's due in court on July 24.

Police said both Arriloa and Rideout lived at the same apartment complex but there was no connection between the two.

Investigators are also still trying to establish a motive for the shooting.
