SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Fears over the coronavirus has led to empty shelves at stores across the nation, including in San Diego County.

10News visited a Costco location in Carmel Mountain Ranch and found the store had run out of items such as bottled water, Clorox disinfectant wipes, flour, bagged rice, and toilet paper.

Some employees at the Carmel Mountain Ranch location told 10News they believe many customers are stocking up amid concerns over the spreading coronavirus.

Workers added the store plans to restock the sold-out items this week.

Costco locations in Mount Hope and east Chula Vista did not have many sold out items, but the presence of disinfectant wipes throughout the stores was evident. Containers with wipes were available at the food court, the stores’ entrances and at the registers.

Meanwhile, San Diego County health officials are monitoring 141 people for coronavirus, but a county report says there are no confirmed positive cases among the group.

Officials noted the risk of contracting the coronavirus is extremely low in the county, despite a local health declaration in response to the concerns.
