CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A Chula Vista mother says she'll never forget the screams of her two daughters after a transient smashed their bedroom window, injuring the girls.

Marine veteran Lindsey Heger had stayed up Saturday night to hang out with her daughters,14-year-old Desteny and 12-year-old Mia.  Around 3:30 in the morning, in their townhouse on Broadway, they heard two loud bangs.  The bedroom window shattered.  Both of the girls screamed as the glass rained down.

"The screams I hear over and over in my head.  I've never heard my girls that scared before ... Desteny was cut up and laying in the glass," said Heger.

Heger rushed her girls upstairs.  Outside, her fiance Robert Parker says he was wrestling with the culprit - a homeless man in his 30s - after the man had slammed a patio table into the window.  All the whie, he was ranting.

"He was saying, 'Your kids are going to be murdered and raped. I need to get in there,' and something about them 'needing to be self-sacrificed to the energy of the universe,'" said Parker.

Eventually, the man took off. Parker gave chase, hopping a fence, before neighbors joined in and helped detain the man until police arrived.   The fight and chase left Parker battered, bruised and worried.  He believes his daughters were targeted. Desteny believes the culprit was the same homeless man who followed his daughter to school a month ago.

Both Desteny and her sister are now afraid to sleep in their bedroom.  Parker hopes the man who caused that fear will stay behind bars.

"If he can do this to my family, what's to prevent him from doing it to another family," said Parker.

10news reached out to Chula Vista Police to see what charges the man is facing, but have yet to hear back.

The girls suffered cuts but will be okay.  Parker says he suffered a fracture in his hand and injuries to his back and ankle.  A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help the family while Parker is out of work.
