LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A driver escaped injury after hitting a bull that was roaming state Route 67 in the Lakeside area.
At around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, Vicki Coles was heading home after a Mother's Day dinner when the Ford pickup truck she was driving on northbound SR-67 struck a bull that wandered onto the highway near Willow Road.
Coles said she could not see the animal on the road because it was dark. The front of her truck sustained heavy damage in the collision.
The bull continued to run around the area but eventually collapsed. Responding law enforcement officers were forced to put the animal down due to its injuries.
At the same time, officers corralled another bull and two other cows that wandered into a parking lot at a nearby gas station. At one point, a gas station worker tried to use a garden hose as a lasso to help catch the animals.
It was later determined the animals escaped from a nearby pen. Officers were able to bring the escapees back to their home.
