SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Researchers at San Diego State University are conducting a study to determine if the coronavirus can be found on surfaces.

A team in the lab of Dr. Forest Rohwer began the project in March. They are trying to enlist about 1,000 volunteers in different parts of the city to take swabs of surfaces that they interact with.

Researchers say it can be done on anything that’s not living, like a doorknob, light switch, ATM or handle at a gas pump.

The goal is to see if the coronavirus can be found living on surfaces. And if it is, to determine if there are trends or hotspots in the locations or types of surfaces.

They are still seeking volunteers to receive a test kit. Visit their website to fill out a form.
