San Diego race fans are in shock over the murder of a member of the family which owns Cajon Speedway, 10News reported.

Steve Brucker (pictured, left) was reportedly shot in the chest Monday afternoon when he opened the front door of his home, located on Medill Place in El Cajon.

Brucker is the oldest son of Cajon Speedway founder Earle Brucker. The victim called 911 before he died, but apparently did not identify his killer.

The 51-year-old race promoter died at Sharp Memorial Hospital, according to 10News.
