Autopsy Pending On Local Man Found Dead Near Big Bear

Bryson Lukacik, 22, Found Dead In Snow Bank

An autopsy was pending Saturday on the body of a 22-year-old Santee man found in a snow bank near Big Bear Lake.

Bryson Lukacik, who played baseball for the semipro San Diego Stars, reportedly suffered a head injury when he collided with a skier while snowboarding on Nov. 26 and then apparently wandered out of a cabin on Balsam Drive later that night.

Joe Lukacik, Bryson's father, told 10News' media partner The San Diego Union-Tribune that his son talked about going surfing the next day and was looking for his car keys but did not immediately realize he was disoriented.

The family said Bryson is bipolar and did not have his medication, and Joe Lukacik told 10News authorities believed his son took the bus home.

Nearly 70 volunteers searched for Bryson the past few days.

A body was found about 9 a.m. Friday about a half a mile from the cabin, and it was later identified as that of Lukacik's.

The autopsy is being done by the San Bernardino County coroner's office.
