Miles for Meals 5K to fundraise for San Diego's hungry

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Local hunger-relief organization Feeding San Diego is holding its Miles for Meals 5K on Dec. 10, to help San Diegans who are in need of meals this holiday season.

The 3.1-mile walk/run will start at 7 a.m. at the corner of 5th Ave. and L St., and everyone who takes part in the race will receive an event T-shirt, a finisher's medal and a free event picture.

The first 60 people who sign up for the race will be invited to a free yoga event hosted by Amy Krieger at Feeding San Diego.

Through the end of November, for every adult registration, one child can be registered for free.

"The holidays are a time of incredible need for San Diegans struggling to put food on the table. This fun event is a great way to enjoy San Diego sights with family and friends while fighting hunger in our community," said Feeding San Diego CEO said Vince Hall.

Through the Miles for Meals 5K, Feeding San Diego is hoping to raise $5,000, which the group said will provide 20,000 meals to families in need.
