After 28 Years, Carol Has Retired From Television News

The last several weeks have been a rollercoaster of activity and emotions. How fun to be interviewed by “Jeff and Jer,” “Jagger and Kristi” and “Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw” in one week! There have been city and county proclamations, a fabulous station party and well wishes from the Mayor AND Tony Gwinn! It’s been a thrilling whirlwind! But I’m most grateful to all the faithful 10News viewers and fans who have been so kind to me. I treasure each of your emails, cards and Web postings. My heart is overflowing.

I have been blessed with a long career in TV news: from Davenport, Iowa, to Peoria, Illinois, then finally here to San Diego. But now I’m looking forward to some new challenges. I’ll be doing some freelance work with my friend and producer, Janine Nakama at STAT Media Productions. We’re working on several video projects for local hospitals and healthcare facilities. After 27 years of covering health news I still love working on projects that help inform the public about the latest medical breakthroughs and new technologies.

But I most look forward to pursuing my passion as a speaker for women’s church groups, retreats and health organizations. I’ve learned so much over the years about healthy living but even more importantly through my own stumbling and bumbling throughout my own life. I’ve come to the conclusion that if I want to be the most effective, productive, joy-filled person possible I have to take care of myself. It’s so easy to get caught up in the stress and craziness of life that taking care of our health takes a back seat. And that includes every facet of life: the physical, mental and emotional, spiritual and relational. That integrative approach to health and well-being can lead to a much higher level of success and happiness. I look forward to more opportunities to encourage others who may need a little boost! Thanks for the memories and don’t stop watching 10 News! Kimberly, Hal and Steve and the rest of the 10News gang have gotcha covered! God Bless you.
