Renee Nelson, who says she's best described as a mom who loves the news, joined the 10News team in September 2015. She was born in Southern California when her father was stationed here as a Marine, and after growing up in Oregon, she's happy to finally live under the sun-drenched skies of San Diego.
After studying journalism in college, Renee decided to take a different path and spent many years self-employed. Though she is a lifelong student, Renee decided to forgo grad school to spend more time with her kids, opting, instead, to order and read every text book in the school's two-year program. Renee worked in the Oregon legislature and spent three years as the morning anchor and executive producer at KTVZ in Bend, Oregon.
Renee and her husband have four children, so when she isn't busy covering breaking news and traffic, she's tending to busy little boys.
