USC women beat San Diego St. 65-61

LOS ANGELES - Ariya Crook scored 18 points and Cassie Harberts added 17 to help Southern California hold off San Diego State 65-61 on Wednesday and improve to 3-0 for the first time since 1998-99 under new coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke.

Alexyz Vaioletama scored 12 points for the Trojans in their home opener.

Cierra Warren scored all of her 21 points in the second half for the Aztecs (0-2). She scored 12 of their 13 points as the Aztecs got to 64-60 with 21 seconds left.

The Aztecs then cut their deficit to three points in the final seconds, but ran out of time after shooting 64 percent in the second half.

The Trojans controlled the boards, 38-32, and had 11 steals. They led by 19 points in the first half while holding the Aztecs scoreless for more than 10 minutes.
