OCEANSIDE, Calif. - A investigation was underway Saturday into the shooting death of an 18-year-old man who was found dying on an Oceanside bike path, police said.

Two passers-by found the man, later identified by police as Ozzy Maturano, lying face down with a single gunshot wound near the railroad tracks off the 300 block of Neptune Way near North Cleveland Street about 6:40 p.m. Friday, Oceanside police Sgt. Matt Christensen said.

The two citizens saw that Maturano sustained some type of trauma and initiated life-saving efforts, which were then continued by arriving fire personnel, but were ultimately unsuccessful, Christensen said.

Maturano died at the scene, Christensen said.
