EL CAJON, Calif. - Authorities briefly locked down two El Cajon schools Friday after a suicidal man reportedly made threats to hurt himself at a nearby home.
The incident took place after 9 a.m. at Emerald and Chase avenues.
Police responded to a call of an armed man who barricaded himself at a home and threatened to hurt himself. The man's wife contacted authorities.
Because the man's home was located near two schools, authorities briefly shut down part of Chase Avenue during the standoff. Emerald Middle School and Chase Elementary School were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
Kids were not in immediate danger, police said.
The man was eventually taken into custody.
