SAN DIEGO - A baby that was rushed to the hospital Friday morning ended up dying and police at the scene said it appears at this point that the child died of natural causes.
The incident was centered at a home near South 43rd Street and Newton Avenue in Southcrest.
The initial report from police was that they were responding to a near drowning, but they later backed off of that statement. Police later said it appeared to be a case of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, commonly known as SIDS. The mother was reportedly sleeping with the child and when she woke up, the baby was not breathing
A neighbor said her pastor lives in the home and there are four young children there, including the baby.
