Welcome to Rett's page!

Rett is a St. Louis, Missouri native. In 1978, he got his start in television news as a video tape editor through an internship from Meramec Community College.

He moved to San Diego in 1984, and took a job with 10News as an editor. A few years later, he moved into a photojournalist position.

He has worked with the best in the business at 10News.

His favorite responsibility was the work he did in the Investigative unit. He considers himself lucky to have worked with J.W. August, (he runs the unit among other duties), Thom Jensen, (THE investigative reporter), Marti Emerald, (don't mess with the consumers or else reporter), and Mark Matthews, (our previous investigative reporter).

The measure of success in the telling of truth is when you get a phone call or e-mail from both sides of the story, and they both think you suck.

Rett says the investigative unit has gotten plenty of those!

Along with those responses, the team has collected literally more than a hundred awards, if not more.

Uncovering wrongdoing is a huge responsibility, and the 10News I-Team is the best in town.

Technology has always driven the business.

Rett knows because things like Web sites and instant e-mail news updates have allowed him to save time.

It is that technology that sends him out of the Investigative unit, and on to something new goin on here at 10News.

It's called "Digital Correspondents" and it is the wave of the future, according to those with the crystal balls, and pens to sign paychecks.

Viewers habits are changing and so are we to accomodate what you want, when you want it.

Rett is a realist with a touch of positive in him, and that is why I grabbed the chance to become a "Digital Correspondent".

The Digital Correspondents have a different way of presenting stories, that's right stories, reality T.V.

After having done what he loves in this business, Rett is very excited to be a "D.C." and to let YOU tell the stories with him.

It has been fun so far, but it is a lot of work and he'll see this through as long as the powers allow him to.

Rett's "beat" is issues going on in the East County and People Behaving Badly.

If you have questions or stories that need to be told, share them with Rett. He's looking forward to serving your interests and issues.
