San Diego State students line up early for tickets to see Aztecs basketball

Student tickets are free

SAN DIEGO - Watching a San Diego State Aztecs men's basketball game at Viejas Arena has become one of the hottest tickets in town, and hundreds of students lined up early Tuesday morning for a chance to get their free student ticket for the next home game.

"We are the loud ones!" SDSU senior Morgan Phillips said, as she went to get her ticket Tuesday morning.

The Aztecs have won 17 straight games and are ranked No. 5 in the most recent Associated Press poll. Their next home game is Feb. 8 against Nevada.

Mohammed Allahyari, one of the first in line for a ticket, waited about an hour and a half. He told 10News, "It's a dream come true. Not too many people can say their team is ranked in the top five."

As the Aztecs continue their winning ways, some are already planning the future.

"Hope for that Final Four!" said student Donny Ojeda.

SDSU student Leo Carillo has been to every home game this season, and he said, "The line is well worth it. I wake up early in the morning because I want to be that support."

When asked if he wakes up that early for class, Carillo laughed and said, "No! Only for basketball games."

The Aztecs are 19-1 on the season, including 8-0 in Mountain West conference play.
