SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego State University will host first- and second-round games in the 2022 men's basketball NCAA Tournament, the NCAA announced.
It will be the fifth time that early-round matches have taken place at Viejas Arena. Next year's first two rounds were previously scheduled to take place at SDSU.
The school previously hosted "March Madness" contests in 2001, 2006 and 2014.
The 2022 games are scheduled for March 18 and March 20. If the Aztecs qualify for the tournament, they would not be eligible to play in San Diego.
Other host sites for the first set of games that year will be Portland, Fort Worth, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Greenville, North Carolina. Regionals the following week will be in Philadelphia, Chicago, San Antonio and San Francisco.
The 2022 Final Four is scheduled for New Orleans.
The NCAA also announced that the University of San Diego will host a regional competition in men's golf on May 17-20, 2020, at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe.
