San Diego Padres split doubleheader with Cleveland Indians

CLEVELAND - Robbie Erlin allowed one run in six innings of work in the San Diego Padres' 2-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday.

Third baseman Chase Headley broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning to give San Diego the lead they would not relinquish.

Closer Huston Street pitched out of a ninth inning jam to preserve the win.

The Padres, who lost the first game of the doubleheader 2-0, return home and will host the Detroit Tigers this weekend.
