SAN DIEGO -
Darren Bennett, the former Chargers punter whose booming kicks delighted fans, was selected for the team's Hall of Fame, it was announced Monday.
Bennett will be the 36th member of the hall -- and the first voted in by fans.
Bennett captured 51 percent of the votes. Running back Natrone Means and receiver Anthony Miller split the rest.
"I'm extremely humbled to have even been asked, but to think that I'm the 36th person to be inducted into the Hall of Fame is an experience I'll never forget," Bennett said. "Especially to be the first person inducted after Junior Seau, I'm very humbled."
The two-time Pro Bowler holds nearly every team punting record, was named to the NFL's All-Decade team for the 1990s, and the Chargers 40th and 50th anniversary all-time teams.
He will be inducted at halftime of the Nov. 25 contest against the Baltimore Ravens.
