Arbitrator cuts Alex Rodriguez suspension to 162 games

NEW YORK - Baseball's arbitrator has reduced the 211-game suspension of Alex Rodriguez to 162, which means he would miss the entire 2014 season.

Major League Baseball made the announcement by saying arbitrator Fredrick Horowitz had made his decision and that it would include the entire 2014 postseason as well.

Rodriguez, and other players, were suspended last year for their alleged part in the Biogenisis scandal.

Rodriguez, who will turn 39 in July, is coming off a two hip surgeries.

There are reports he will file legal action to try to block the suspension.
