NCAA Game Summary - Eastern Michigan At Northern Illinois

(Sports Network) - DeMarcus Grady threw two scores and ran one in, as Northern Illinois crushed Eastern Michigan, 50-6, at Huskie Stadium.

Grady went 4-for-5 for 119 yards and had 10 carries for 104 yards for the Huskies (6-3, 4-1 MAC), who have won their last three games. Chad Spann had 11 carries for 174 yards with touchdown runs of 65 and 79 yards, while Landon Cox caught both touchdown passes in the win.

Alex Gillett went just 2-for-12 for 49 yards, while Dwayne Priest had 17 carries for 75 yards for the Eagles (0-9, 0-5), who have lost all but two of their games this season by double-digits.

Tommy Davis took the opening kickoff 86 yards back the other way and into the end zone, but the extra point was blocked, and the Huskies had a 6-0 lead.

The Eagles responded a bit later with a 21-yard field goal from Joe Carithers, but Grady found Cox for a 30-yard score on the ensuing drive to make it a 13-3 game.

Eastern Michigan got another three points on its next touch courtesy of a 20- yard field goal from Carithers, but on the first play of the next drive, Spann took the ball 65 yards into the end zone to give Northern Illinois a 20-6 lead.

It was all Northern Illinois in the second quarter, as Mike Salerno hit a 26- yard field goal, Spann had a 79-yard touchdown run and, in the final minute, Grady and Cox hooked up on a 31-yard score to give the team a 37-6 lead heading into the break.

The Huskies continued to pour it on in the third, as Salerno hit a 36-yard field goal and Grady rushed the ball in from five yards out later in the frame for a 47-6 lead.

A 22-yard field goal from Salerno in the fourth quarter capped the scoring in the game.

Game Notes:

Eastern Michigan hosts Western Michigan next Saturday...Northern Illinois hosts Ball State next Thursday...Northern Illinois holds a 24-14-2 lead over Eastern Michigan in the all-time series. The Huskies have taken eight of their last nine games against the Eagles.
