As for the Lobos (0-7, 0-3), they were paced by Donovan Porterie who threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

The Rebels erupted for a 14-0 first quarter lead, as Clayton connected with Phillip Payne for an eight-yard score, and that was followed by a two-yard touchdown run by Trotter.

The Lobos finally got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter when James Aho connected on a 44-yard field goal.

However, with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, the Rebels pushed their lead to 21-3 when Clayton hit Wolfe for a 28-yard scoring strike.

UNLV responded with a 33-yard field goal by Kyle Watson midway through the third frame, but the Lobos cut their deficit to 24-17 early in the final quarter when Porterie connected with Lucas Reed for a 13-yard touchdown pass.

However, the Lobos were unable to inch any closer, as the Rebels closed out the contest with a four-yard touchdown run by Mike Clausen and a 27-yard field goal by Watson.
