GAME NOTES: Still winless on the year, the Miami-Ohio RedHawks will try to break into the win column this weekend when they travel to Athens to take on the Ohio Bobcats in a Mid-American Conference tussle at Peden Stadium.

The RedHawks have dropped their first six games on the season, including a 16-6 loss to Northwestern this past weekend. So far the RedHawks have been shutout twice and have lost each matchup by double figures. Miami-Ohio is 0-4 on the road this season and since the start of the 2006 campaign the team is a meager 5-19 as the visitor.

As for the Bobcats, they come into this contest fresh off a 19-7 decision over Akron. It was the fourth win in the last five games for Ohio, which is now 2-0 in league play. The Bobcats will remain home for their next matchup with Kent State, and then will head the road for back-to-back battles against Ball State and Buffalo.

The RedHawks have dominated the all-time series by a 52-31-2 margin, but the Bobcats have won the last three meetings, including a 41-26 decision this past season.

The RedHawks have struggled offensively this season, and head into this contest averaging just 328.8 total ypg, leading to a mere 10.7 ppg. The ground game has been bottled up for just 88.3 ypg on 2.8 yards per carry, but there has been some hope for this unit with the passing game, as the team is posting 240.5 ypg through the air. Zac Dysert, who took over for an inconsistent Daniel Raudabaugh, has completed 58.5 percent of his throws for 874 yards and four touchdowns. However, the signal caller has made plenty of mistakes as well, tossing nine interceptions on the year. Dysert's struggles continued in the loss to Northwestern on Saturday, as the quarterback threw for just 176 yards and one touchdown, but was intercepted three times and sacked on seven different occasions. Dysert also led an inept ground game, rushing for 59 yards on 23 carries.

Defensively the RedHawks have also been a nightmare, and come into this matchup surrendering 383.7 total ypg, and that has led to 36.7 ppg. The team has been unable to stop the run or pass, as opponents are churning out 164.8 ypg on the ground, while posting another 218.8 ypg through the air. Teams have been able to score easily against Miami-OH, racking 14 rushing TDs and 13 scores via the pass. The team's lack of big play ability has also been a huge issue for this unit, as the defense has collected just five turnovers and six sacks. Surprisingly however, the defense put forth a commendable effort against Northwestern, even though the team was defeated. The RedHawks held the Wildcats to just 16 points on 319 total yards. Miami-OH only allowed 3.1 yards per rush, but still surrendered 128 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.

The Bobcats head into this contest averaging a healthy 26.8 ppg, but the team has not been overwhelming offensively, averaging a modest 326.7 total ypg. The ground game is being bottled up for 117.8 ypg, but the passing attack has been slightly better, as the team is posting 208.8 ypg through the air, and out of the 14 touchdowns scored by this unit, 11 have come via the pass. Theo Scott has been solid under center, as the signal caller comes into this weekend with 1,051 yards and 10 scores against four interceptions. Taylor Price and LaVon Brazill have been the top two targets for Scott, as Price is pacing the team with 24 receptions, 412 yards and four touchdowns, while Brazill is chipping in with 16 catches for 211 yards and three scores. The Bobcats only scored 19 points against Akron this past weekend, but it was enough for the team to grab a win. Surprisingly the ground game was solid in the victory, as the team rumbled for 160 yards on 41 carries. Vince Davidson led the way with 69 yards, while Chris Garrett added 38 yards on seven totes. As for Scott, he struggled a bit in the matchup, completing just 11-of-21 passes for 132 yards and one score, but was also intercepted once as well.

The defense has enjoyed some success on the year, but the unit has not been a dangerous force. Ohio is surrendering 23.5 ppg and that has come on 359.5 total yards per matchup. The real sore spot for this unit has been its inability to stop the run, as teams are punished Ohio for 172.2 rushing ypg on 4.1 yards per attempt. Fortunately the defense has been able to force plenty of big plays and that is one of the reasons why the defense has stood strong on the year. Ohio comes into this game with 19 takeaways, grabbing nine interceptions, while forcing 10 fumbles. Ohio allowed 346 yards against Akron on Saturday, but the defense held the Zips to just seven points, and a big reason for the unit's success was the five turnovers the Bobcats created.

The Bobcats have played well defensively this season, and considering how poorly the RedHawks have played offensively, this should be an easy victory for Ohio.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Ohio 27, Miami-Ohio 6
