Albuquerque, NM -- (Sports Network) - The University of New Mexico has suspended head football coach Mike Locksley for 10 days without pay, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Per the report, Locksley and wide receivers coach J.B. Gerald were involved in an altercation that resulted in a punch during a September 20 practice.

The Lobos are 0-6 and have a bye this week. Their next game is October 24 against UNLV, and Locksley will not be on the sideline.

The former Illinois offensive coordinator is in his first season as head coach of New Mexico, replacing longtime coach Rocky Long.
