POSTED: 9:00 am PDT July 2, 2009

(Sports Network) - Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi leads all players in fan balloting for the 2009 WNBA All-Star Game, which is scheduled for July 25 in Connecticut.

Taurasi has received 32,921 votes, while Indiana forward Tamika Catchings is next with 32,266. Catchings leads all Eastern Conference players.

Fan balloting, which began on June 14 and ends July 7, will determine the five starters for each conference. The starters will be announced July 14.

Taurasi is joined by Seattle's Sue Bird in the two starting guard slots for the Western Conference, with San Antonio's Becky Hammon trailing Bird by more than 3,900 votes.

Los Angeles' Lisa Leslie leads at the center position for the West with 24,305 votes, more than 7,500 ahead of Phoenix's Tangela Smith. Cappie Pondexter of Phoenix and Seattle's Lauren Jackson are the top forwards in the West. Jackson has a lead of just 196 votes over Phoenix's DeWanna Bonner.

Catchings and Chicago's Candice Dupree lead the Eastern Conference forwards. Dupree has a lead of more than 4,000 votes over Connecticut's Asjha Jones for the second forward spot.

Sylvia Fowles of Chicago leads all East centers with 22,446 votes, more than 7,000 in front of Indiana's Tammy Sutton-Brown. The top two guard spots are held by Indiana's Katie Douglas and Connecticut's Lindsay Whalen. Washington's Alana Beard is third and trails Whalen by more than 1,700 votes.
