The Golden Gophers responded early in the second period with a four-yard strike from Weber to Green.

Minnesota took a 14-7 lead just minutes later, as Weber found Broderick Smith for a 43-yard completion.

The Golden Gophers extended their lead midway through the period following a six-yard scamper from Weber.

Minnesota opened a 24-17 lead late in the frame following a 30-yard kick from Joel Monroe.

Hill found the end zone once more for the Badgers early in the final period of play, a one-yard plunge that tied the contest at 24.

Troy Stoudemire then fumbled the ensuing kickoff into the end zone for a safety, and the Badgers led, 26-24.

The Badgers added another safety just minutes later with a Mike Newkirk sack of Weber in the end zone.

A five-yard run by John Clay late in the frame gave the Badgers a 35-24 advantage.
