She is cousins with professional tennis player Taylor Dent, and is married to Marlins catcher Matt Treanor. She has two dogs, Gruden and Boogie.

She played collegiate volleyball at Stanford, where she was named a first-team All-American in each of her four seasons. Walsh comes from an athletic family. Her father played minor league baseball for the Oakland A's, and her mother was a two-time MVP in volleyball at Santa Clara. Her brother, Marte, played basketball at Cal Poly, and her sisters Kelli and KC both played collegiate volleyball at Santa Clara and Loyola Marymount, respectively. Walsh is also married to an athlete, as she tied the knot with fellow beach volleyball player Casey Jennings in December 2005.
