We've all seen 10News change lives with Extreme Makeover: My Hometown. Watch as we do it again for a very special group of individuals. Stay connected to 10News and 10News.com throughout November and December and see how we transform The ARC of San Diego's Starlight Center!
Our Extreme Makeover: My Hometown beneficiary is The ARC of San Diego's Starlight Center. The Arc of San Diego, a private, not-for-profit corporation, is one of the region's largest human-service agencies. Founded in 1951 by a determined group of people who felt they had to "do something" for children with mental challenges, ARC blends a long history of service with a national reputation for success. Today, they are guided by the same sense of purpose dedication that inspired those parents over forty years ago.

The ARC of San Diego has a rich tradition of developing quality programs for children and adults with developmental disabilities. All of their programs promote social, economic, and personal independence. They stand by their belief that people with developmental disabilities have unlimited potential and the right to equality of opportunity.

We combine what we hear, see, touch, taste, and feel to understand the world around us. Since individuals with developmental disabilities often have sensory limitations they lose out on many experiences to learn and understand. A sensory room provides a way for individuals to experience different sensations in a special environment and to learn through those experiences.
