The County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services (OES) is in charge of helping people before and after an emergency! They help organize the actions of the police, fire, and other agencies. Together, they help San Diego prevent, prepare for, and recover from emergencies and disasters.

Disasters can be natural or man-made. Floods, earthquakes, and even some wildfires are caused by nature. Man-made disasters are caused by the actions of people. In the past, people have caused explosions and fires.

No matter what kind of disaster, there are things you can do to be prepared!

KIDS! What would YOU have in your emergency kit?
Click on the OES logo and find out about what YOU can do to get prepared. Have your mom or dad help you navigate to the "kids page" and then to "safety basics" where you will find "family disaster supplies kit". This will list everything that you will need to help complete your drawing!

Draw a picture of your emergency kit on an 8 & 1/2 by 11 inch sized paper and mail it to 10News for your chance to have your drawing posted on 10News.com and AztecaSD.com... and to also win a "SUBWAY" SANDWICH PARTY for your classroom!
