Mississippi dodged the brunt of the storms Tuesday night that killed at least 48 people in Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas, Jackson television station WAPT reported.

Little more than downed trees, power outages, and a couple buildings destroyed were reported.

Wednesday morning, Entergy reported there were fewer than 4,400 outages statewide, about half of those in the Southaven area. There were about 1,000 customers scattered across the metro without power.

Two buildings were destroyed in North Mississippi. Eleven people in all were injured across the state.

In some parts of Jackson, there was heavy rain, lightning and downed trees reported.

No injuries have been reported in Jackson.
