SAN DIEGO -- A second firefighter who was badly burned during recent wildfires in San Diego County has been released from the hospital.

The state fire agency reported Friday that two of the four injured firefighters remain hospitalized UCSD Medical Center.

State officials say the firefighters followed resident Thomas Varshock and his teenage son back to their home in the rugged hills east of San Diego, where the fire broke out.

The fire truck got stuck and flames exploded around the engine.

Varshock was killed at the scene. His son was critically burned. His aunt says the boy is fighting for his life in the hospital.
