Local NASCAR Champion Donates Earnings From Race

ATLANTA -- A special win for El Cajon native Jimmie Johnson Sunday afternoon.The defending NASCAR champion promised to donate his earnings from Sunday's race in Atlanta to the Red Cross.Johnson collected nearly $350,000.
Johnson's sponsor Lowe's will also donate money, as well as speedway owner Bruton Smith.As for racing, Johnson now trails Jeff Gordon by just nine points in the chase for the Nextel cup championship with three races to go.
