East Rutherford, NJ -- The New Jersey Devils beefed up their depth at forward on Thursday, signing free agent enforcer Krzysztof Oliwa. In accordance with club policy, terms of the deal were not released. The 31-year-old Oliwa reached Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals with Calgary this past spring, but returns to the franchise which drafted him in 1993. "Kris at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds is a physical forward who brings additional size and strength to our roster," said New Jersey president and general manager Lou Lamoriello. In 2003-04, Oliwa recorded three goals in 65 games, but is more known for his tough play and fighting ability. His 247 penalty minutes ranked third highest in the league. Oliwa played for the Devils for three-plus seasons, the last of which came in 1999-2000 when the club captured their second of three Stanley Cup titles. Including stops in Pittsburgh, Columbus, Boston and New York with the Rangers, Oliwa has totaled 17 goals and 1,447 penalty minutes in 407 career games.
