San Diego, CA -- (Sports Network) - The San Diego Chargers have signed linebacker Jyles Tucker and safety Keith Gregory to contract extensions.Tucker inked a five-year deal that will take him through the 2012 season, while Gregory's four-year pact will run through 2011. Both players were signed originally as undrafted rookies. "Both Jyles and Steve did it the hard way," said Chargers general manager A.J. Smith. "They came to us as undrafted free agents, spent some time on the practice squad and earned their way on to the 53-man roster by working extremely hard. Both have become productive players and we're extremely excited to have them in the fold for years to come." Tucker will enter his second NFL season. The Wake Forest product joined the active roster last November and registered 3 1/2 sacks with seven tackles on defense, while recording six more tackles on special teams. He added four tackles in the playoffs. Gregory, in his third season out of Syracuse, racked up 21 special teams tackles during his first two years. He also serves as a backup strong safety.
